Terms of Service

1. Overview of the Service

TransBuddy is a translation-assistant desktop app that, via global shortcuts, provides AI-based translation candidates and explanations for screen captures, clipboard text, or directly entered text, and offers local-folder deep search and auto-input features.

2. Eligibility

The Service may be used only by individuals aged 14 or older who have the legal capacity to be bound by these Terms. Minors must use the Service with the consent of a legal guardian.

3. License and Restrictions

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service in accordance with these Terms. You must not:

• Reverse engineer, decompile, extract source from, or copy/distribute the Service without authorization
• Attempt to bypass subscription/usage limits, authentication, or security measures
• Make abnormal or excessive automated requests, or otherwise disrupt the Service
• Use the Service to violate law, infringe others’ rights, or process unlawful or harmful content

4. Subscriptions and Billing

The Service offers two paid plans, Basic and Pro (monthly/yearly). Payments are processed by Paddle as our Merchant of Record.

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.

• Subscriptions renew automatically for the selected period (monthly/yearly) until cancelled, billed at the price in effect at renewal.
• Each plan has daily/monthly usage quotas that serve as safeguards to ensure normal use.
• Prices may vary by currency and may change; we will provide notice of changes in advance.
• Refunds and cancellations are governed by the separate Refund & Subscription Policy.

5. Free Trial

New users may be offered a 7-day free trial. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, it automatically converts to a paid subscription and is billed. Free trials may be limited to one per user/payment method.

6. AI Translation Notice

Translations and explanations are generated automatically by AI models and may contain inaccurate or inappropriate results. The Service is provided as an assistive tool and does not replace professional translation, legal, medical, or any other advice. You are responsible for reviewing and using the results.

7. Your Content and Responsibility

You must hold the lawful rights to any text, images, or files you submit to the Service, and you are responsible for their processing. As stated in our Privacy Policy, we do not store translation input.

8. Intellectual Property

All intellectual property rights in the Service, including its software, trademarks, logos, and design, belong to the operator or its licensors. These Terms do not transfer those rights to you.

9. Third-Party Services

The Service uses third-party services including Paddle, Google, OpenAI, and Cloudflare. Their terms may apply to such use, and we do not warrant the availability or behavior of third-party services.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "AS IS." We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, fit for a particular purpose, or that translation results will be accurate.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Service. Our total liability will not exceed the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim. Nothing in this section limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

12. Termination

You may cancel your subscription and stop using the Service at any time. If you materially breach these Terms, we may suspend or restrict your access to the Service.

13. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, and disputes will be subject to the court with jurisdiction over the operator’s location as the court of first instance, except where mandatory law provides otherwise. Consumers may retain rights guaranteed by the laws of their place of residence.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these Terms and will give advance notice of material changes on the website. Continuing to use the Service after notice constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
