Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-06-07
TransBuddy ("the Service") values your privacy and is built to collect and process the minimum data necessary. This Privacy Policy applies to both the desktop app and the https://transbuddy.app website.
Core principle: the text and images you submit for translation are not stored on our servers after processing, and are never used to train AI models.
1. Operator and Contact
The Service is operated by an independent solo developer. For any privacy-related question, please contact us at the email below.
- Email: [email protected]
2. Information We Collect
The Service works without accounts or logins and collects only the minimum data below.
- Anonymous install identifier (installId): a random identifier generated and stored on your device at install time. It does not include directly identifying information such as your name or email.
- Subscription and usage data: subscription status, plan (Basic/Pro), and daily/monthly usage counts needed to provide the Service and enforce limits.
- Payment information: payments are processed by our payment provider, Paddle. Card and payment-method details are held by Paddle, not by us.
- Email address: processed only to verify ownership when you restore a subscription or link a device (including the email you provide to Paddle at checkout).
- Translation input (transient): text and images you submit for translation are transmitted only for processing and are not stored on our servers.
- Error diagnostics: error and crash data used to improve stability. Personal content such as translation source text is excluded by collection filters.
3. Information We Do Not Collect
- We do not store the content of the text or images you submit for translation.
- Deep search runs entirely within local folders on your device; searched files are not transmitted externally.
- We do not use advertising/marketing trackers or third-party advertising identifiers.
4. How We Use Information
- To provide features such as translation and search
- To verify subscription status and manage usage quotas
- To restore subscriptions and link additional devices
- To diagnose errors and improve quality and stability
- To comply with legal obligations and prevent abuse
5. Processors and Third Parties
We rely on the trusted providers below to operate the Service. Each processes data under its own privacy policy.
- Paddle.com Market Ltd — payments and subscription management (Merchant of Record)
- Google (Gemini API) and OpenAI — AI translation processing. Submitted data is not used to train their models.
- Cloudflare, Inc. — website hosting, API proxy (Workers), storage (R2/KV), and delivery
- Resend — sending one-time verification codes for subscription recovery
- Sentry — error and crash monitoring (with filters excluding personal content)
Except where required by law or a lawful request, we do not sell your information or share it for marketing purposes.
6. International Transfers
The processors above may operate servers outside your country (e.g. in the United States or the EU). By using the Service, you acknowledge that your information may be transferred and processed abroad to the extent necessary to provide the Service.
7. Retention and Deletion
- Translation input: discarded immediately after processing and not stored.
- Subscription, identifier, and usage data: retained only as long as needed to provide the subscription and prevent abuse, then deleted without undue delay.
- Payment records: may be retained by Paddle and as required by applicable tax/accounting law.
8. Your Rights
Subject to applicable law (e.g. Korea PIPA, EU GDPR, California CCPA), you may request access to, correction of, deletion of, or restriction of processing of your information. Send requests to the contact above and we will respond within a reasonable time.
You can also review and cancel your subscription directly through the Paddle customer portal.
9. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under the age of 14 (or the minimum age set by your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
10. Cookies
The website does not use marketing or tracking cookies. However, the Paddle checkout may use its own cookies to process payments.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy to reflect legal or service changes and will announce material changes on the website. Updated versions take effect when posted.
